A Resident's Guide to Automated Trash Collection, Bulk Pick Up & Recycling

Trash
1. The contractor will pick up trash and recyclables once a week. Collections are made on all holidays with the exception of Christmas, New Year's Day and Thanksgiving Day.

2. All trash must be placed in the trash cart provided by Town of Farmington. Other containers or bags will not be collected. Please call the Farmington Highway & Grounds Division if you need a container.

3. Trash must be put out the night before your collection day, place your cart within 6 feet of the curb, or in the corner of your driveway.

4.Hazardous waste products will not be picked up by the contractor. The town will announce the date of special hazardous waste collection day.

Bulky Waste
Contact the Farmington Highway & grounds Division at 675-2550 to schedule a bulk pick up.

Recycling Leaves and Grass
Connecticut State Law requires that leaves need to be recycled which prohibits us from collecting them with your rubbish. The Farmington Publics Works Department collects leaves at curbside during the town wide Fall Curbside Service. For more information call the Farmington Highway Department at 675-2550. Grass clippings can be mulched back into your lawn or composted for garden soil. Either way, this is great for the environment.
