you’ve read About Us, you know that
Waste Material Trucking Company has been owned and operated by the
Zommer family since 1945.
In
the late 1980s, three of Mike and Linda Zommer's children began
to make important contributions to remolding the family business
into a modern waste management operation. |

When state law began to mandate recycling in 1988, daughter Michele
was instrumental in helping the company's 15,000 residential customers
embrace the new recycling routine. Together with son Mark, they
researched responsible new sources for processing recyclable household
wastes including newspaper, corrugated cardboard and glass. Son
Michael Louis, meanwhile, contributed daily to operations of the
fast-growing company. In the mid 1990s, Mark took steps to control
rising customer costs and at the same time make it easier for people
to drag trash out to the curb. The company invested in automated
trucking equipment and large trash Toters with wheels.
Today, the company is proud to operate residential trash collection
and recycling operations in four central Connecticut communities:
Farmington, Plainville and Southington. In addition, we provide commercial
garbage collection and dumpster rentals
in seven Connecticut towns: Avon, Burlington, Farmington, New Britain,
Plainville and Southington.

Our
fleet of trash and recycling trucks and a workforce of about 50
employees, many with years of service to the company, is based at
the company's transportation headquarters in Farmington. During
the course of more than 50 years, size and success have not changed
the character of the business—Mike, Linda and their children
and employees continue to put customers' needs first.
